The Vessels Family

Total Office Products & Service was founded in 1979 by Bill Vessels.  Bill has more than 50 years experience in the office products industry.  Bill likes to say he started in the office products business in 1950 B.C.C.C. (Before Copiers, Computers, & Cell Phones). His previous experience includes Victor Comptometer Corp., George G. Fetter Company, & Office Communications Systems before founding T.O.P.S. in 1979. A lifelong resident of Louisville, Bill still wears many hats at T.O.P.S. and is active member of the Dixie Kiwanis Club & the Cane Run Area Business Association.

Chris has more than 27 years experience in the office products industry.  Starting to work at TOPS at the age of 13, Chris has done (and still does) a little bit of everything at TOPS, including sales, delivery, installation, management, and even a little janitorial work at times. Chris’ sons, Andrew & Matthew (Ages 5 & 7) are already involved in the family business. Well, at least they come into the office every Friday and spend the day playing. Chris & his family are life long Louisville residents and currently live in the Highlands.  Chris is a member of the Dixie Kiwanis Club & the Downtown Louisville BNI Chapter.

Betty has more than 20 years experience in the office products business and has been the Office Manager (& Office Mom) for many years.  Many, many of our customers have come to love Betty over the years and enjoying calling TOPS and chatting with her.  She’s become good friends with many of our customers over the years and is truly the ‘voice of TOPS’ that so many of our customers recognize when they call.  Betty is actively involved in the Dixie Kiwanis and is the proud, proud grandmother of 3 boys and 1 girl.

The office products business has changed significantly over the years.  Just like the local grocery & hardware stores, the local office products dealer has become extinct over the last 15 years as the ‘Big Box’ chains have pushed into the industry.  But, T.O.P.S. has managed to survive and thrive because of our emphasis on good prices AND great service.  At TOPS, we still believe in providing top-quality customer service.  Nowadays, customer service often seems like a long, lost thing of the past.

Prompt Response:  Our customers know that we always return phone calls and emails, promptly.  You wouldn’t believe how many times we’ve heard, “I called 7 office supply places and you were the only ones that returned my call.’ 

Personal Service:  Being locally-owned & operated, you can expect friendly, personal service all the time.  We know our customers and we personally answer their needs.  And when you have a special need or request (or, God forbid, a complaint), don’t hesitate to call and ask for the President or Owner of the company.  He will answer your call.  How many other places that you shop could you do that with??

No Voice Menus, No Voice Mail:  Yes, we’re proud of this.  We intentionally have NO voice menus or voice mails.  When you call TOPS, a real, live employee ALWAYS answers the phone.  And usually by the 3rd ring.  And, our customer service is based right here in Louisville.  Your calls aren’t forwarded to Florida, India, or some other far away place.  We truly know our customers and they are more than just an account number to us.
